Our learning events are run in an interactive format, with time for questions and discussion, and the opportunity to network with peers and learn from other organisations.  Participants come away with a workshop handbook, usually in the form of practical guidelines containing valuable resources such as checklists and handouts.  Places on our events fill up quickly, so early booking is advised.

Planning and Developing an HR Strategy

People In Aid in association with the IAWG is offering a one day workshop focused on developing a human resource strategy. The workshop is aimed at senior HR staff or staff with a responsibility for human resource issues. Participants will be involved in strategic planning for people and have a responsibility in developing the people in their organisation.

Senior HR staff from National NGOs, Regional offices and Country offices will benefit from an opportunity to develop their skills in this area, to discuss case studies from other organisations in Kenya and other regions. Participants will learn from and share with others the common issues, concerns around strategy development and planning and possible solutions.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop participants will be better equipped to:

Develop, plan or enhance a Human Resources Strategy within their organisations through a better understanding of:

·what an HR strategy might consist of and what it can achieve

·how to gain organisational and staff understanding and buy-in to the strategy

·the processes for developing and delivering an HR strategy including alignment with other organisation strategies

how the People In Aid Code can act as a framework for developing and working with an HR strategy

Building the Capacity of Human Resources staff

 People In Aid in association with the IAWG are offering a 1 day workshop focused on building HR staff capacity aimed at Human Resources staff and those with responsibility for people management.Participants will have a key role in delivering HR strategies and be working with senior staff and line managers to develop their organisations.

 

Learning Outcomes

HR professionals have a growing role to shape the HR strategy, partner and influence line managers and senior management teams, and lead their organisations through change.

The purpose of this workshop is to give HR professionals and those responsible for people management issues the opportunity to focus on how they can develop the capacity of their teams to meet these changing organisational needs and ensure the delivery of high quality people management.

By the end of the workshop participants will have a better understanding of:

·The changing role of Human Resource staff

·What effective business partnering means

·The changing role of line managers

·How to influence and lead change

·How to influence and get buy-in from line managers

There will be the opportunity to discuss case studies from other organisations and to learn from and share with other participants.

People Management for Line Managers

People In Aid in association with the IAWG are offering a two day workshop focused on “People Management for Line Managers”. The workshop is aimed at line managers in the development and relief sector and provides an opportunity to build understanding and practical skills in people management.

The target audience is line managers in any function working in country program teams, technical teams, regional offices or in HQ roles.

Learning Outcomes

The workshop will explore the changing roles of line managers with respect to people management and organisational performance and provide practical tools for participants to use in order to manage people and processes more effectively.

The workshop will be structured around the line manager’s role, skills and impact in people management, building on a management cycle that includes planning, recruitment, deployment, managing performance, development and learning, and managing transition.

By the end of the workshop participants will be better equipped to:

-Understand and manage the main employee management steps from planning and recruitment through performance management to transition or departure

-Use the skills and tools required across these people management steps: for example interviewing, giving and receiving feedback, addressing and supporting performance, dealing with difficult situations, and enabling change

-Work effectively with their own organisations HR function and HR processes
